There is NO REQUIREMENT under Law for a vehicle to be serviced by an authorised dealer in order to keep your consumer warranty policy intact. Your local independent automotive service centre can provide automotive services warranty for your new car and maintain your log book schedule while the car is still within the manufacturer warranty period. This ensures you can confidently navigate the warranty claim process without being tied to a dealership. **from the AAAA website**
Under Australian Consumer Law (ACL), a vehicle owner is not required to have their car serviced by an authorised dealer to maintain their automotive services warranty. Vehicle servicing performed by an independent mechanic will not void the warranty, provided the following conditions are met:
Qualified Professional: The mechanic or repairer must be appropriately trained and qualified to conduct the necessary service or repair work.
Fit-for-Purpose Parts: Parts used in the service must be suitable for the vehicle but do not need to be original manufacturer parts.
Manufacturer’s Specifications: All services and repairs must follow the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications, including service intervals, to comply with the consumer warranty policy. Following these guidelines ensures a smooth warranty claim process in case you need to make a claim.
